Central Saint Martins BA show

The Central Saint Martins BA show sponsored by L’Oreal Professionnel at the York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The show opened with a short film highlighting the history of Central Saint Martins as the school is moving from Charing Cross Road to a new location in King’s Cross.

There were forty five students presenting their final collections - the show was over an hour long! It was really quite an inspiring show. Lots of texture, prints and ribboning.

The winner of the l’Oreal Young Designer Talent Award was Flaminia Saccucci – who designs beautiful floral and tyre prints on rubber. It was very fresh and elegant. The judging panel included Christopher Kane, Alexandre Roux from John Galliano, Craig Lawrence, Carola Long from the FT, Luke Hersheson, Lucas Ossendrijver the Design Director at Lanvin Homme, and Willie Walters the BA Course Director.

I loved all the knitwear. It seems like knitwear has been changing dramatically in the past few years. I lliked Shengwai Wan's knit tunic dresses with metallic thread running though them.
