A TV presenter? Moi?

Yesterday, after a long day at work I decided to hot-foot it over to Selfridges and go to the open casting to become the next Alexa Chung. It was a brave move I have to say, I have no desire to be famous, or at least that’s what I thought.

There I was standing in line with the other hopefuls, feeling more like an XFactor reject than the next big thing but well, life is to short and I’ve no room for regrets.

Whilst I was smoothing my hair down for the gazillionth time, Brix-Smith Start came over with her mic and started interviewing me, it was hilarious. I still have no idea what on earth I said, I wanted to be bubbly, energetic, sophisticated and cool but I think I came across more like a kid let loose at Toys’R’us, after munching a big bag of smarties. I’m Mortified.

The thing is, ever since I can remember I’ve always wanted to have a glamorous life, to work on a magazine, to write and have everyone love me (I’m the youngest out of four don’t ya know). I envisaged a life of cosmopolitans, Manolo Blahniks, hot model boyfriends and a cool loft apartment. To be honest I think I watched far too much Sex and the City in my tweens.

Whilst I’ll admit, I have come far, working for Elleuk.com is amazing and I love it; I’m not quite there yet. No loft apartment, I live on the ground floor with my fab shoe designer flatmate Helen. No boyfriend, model or any other kind. No killer Manolos, though who wears those anymore? Mine are just from Topshop (if I’m lucky). But I’m all about positive mental thinking and one day my life will be picture perfect. Who knows when that day will be, maybe when I become the next hot shot Fashionair presenter? Alexa you better watch out…

Oh and by the way, tomorrow I will be out at the shows, taking street style pics at London Fashion Week – if you see me, come over and say hi.
